Ron was born and raised on a tobacco / vegetable farm south of Simcoe, Ontario. He still farms there today. He, along with his wife Patty and three sons,switched towatermelon farming in 2004. He is a charter member of “the GROWERs” watermelon group and is currently their main contact for sales, import/export, and purchasing. He is a certified CanadaGAP auditor and On-Farm Food Safety consultant. Over the years he has volunteered as: an executive member of the Norfolk Federation of Agriculture and President of NFA east, an OFCTGMB Committeeman for district 10, a Boy Scout leader, an executive member of the Norfolk Woodlot Owners Association, and a Special Olympics supporter.
